It's hard to imagine someone worse for the job than Tim Slash'n'burner (Shallenburger) who followed up his loss to Kathleen Sebelius by getting the Chairmanship, and then watched as Sebelius rolled over her opponent last November. While Paul Morrison rolled over Kansas Republican Party superstar Phill Kline.
But, the Kansas Republican Party has the man who'll take the holedigging of the Slashnburner chairmanship and turn it into a full effort.
Enter Kris Kobach
The selection of Kris Kobach, of Kansas City, Kan., is likely to upset GOP moderates because of his opposition to abortion and conservative positions on issues such as immigration.
No kidding? You mean the guy who got steamrolled by Dennis Moore in 2004 because he's a kook is going to be unpopular with moderates?
The messege from the Kansas "G"OP to Republican Moderates is pretty clear by now. The messege is "Get out, we really don't need you anyways"
(more under the fold)
The Kansas Republican Party sent that messege when they selected Phill Kline to become Johnson County DA, after Kline lost Johnson County by 30 points.
The Kansas Republican Party is pretty much trying to play a game of chicken with the people in their party who prefer to have good universities, instead of debating if evolution occured. They wouldn't mind those people leaving the party.
The Kansas Republican Party isn't a big tent party, it's a clown tent party.
Kline and Kobach and Shallenburger can all fit in the same tiny car too.
At least the Kansas Republican Party huddle wasn't devoid of stories. Such as this.
Former Attorney General Phill Kline dropped in on Saturday's meeting of Republicans' state committee, and he brought a friend.
The friend was a 7-week-old, black and white English springer spaniel.
No word on if Kline used cute puppies to hypnotize a few Johnson County "G"OP precinct chairs to get the DA job.
Republicans in Kansas and elsewhere have to appeal to independent voters if they want to continue elections, Kansas GOP leader Steve Cloud said Saturday.
No kidding Steve.
The problem is that root canals are becoming more appealing to Independents than Voting Republican.
Should be a heck of a four years.
