While not watching the Super Bowl tonight, I ran across a global warming ad on TV, sponsored by Environmental Defense (formerly the Environmental Defense Fund) and the Ad Council, who produces a lot of public service ads.
The ad closes with a link to http://www.fightglobalwarming.com, which after a brief look, appears to me to be a responsible, somewhat non-technical, consumer-oriented web site. My first impression is that both the ad and the web site are very well done.

The ad I saw is viewable on the website referenced above. I haven't linked it here because it's late and I'm too tired to figure out how to link it - if someone wants to provide a link in the comments, I'd appreciate it.
The ad I saw is the one entitled "Train". I usually mute ads with the remote, but this one grabbed me visually from the beginning and I thought brought its point home very well.
I think both the ad campaign and the website are very necessary components in raising consciousness about global warming and in making any effective action possible. The first thing we need to do is stop fighting over whether global warming is real - it is - and start creating a sense of urgency about fashioning a response to the crisis. Debating skeptics from this point forward is just generating more CO2 - something we don't need.
I'm familiar with the Environmental Defense Fund (now just Environmental Defense, or ED, unfortunately), but only vaguely. From looking at their website and wikipedia entry, my favorable impression seems justified. They do seem to do a lot of corporate interaction, which raises a flag, but is also something I think needs to be incorporated into environmental actions. I'd be interested in any comments having information about ED's actions and attitudes.
