Watching the Daily Show and some jackass news announcer is saying that nobody reads blogs, implying that we're just electorally masturbating.
But he don't know what means most: everyone who actually DOES anything about politics is currently obsessing about blogs, because blogs are stovepiping reality to the political class, that 5% of the population known to their peers as govergeeks, authorities on trends, the watercooler source of wisdom about Hillary and McCain, delegates and DC derring-do.
All voters do is vote. They're like sheep herded by their shepherds to go vote. They remind me of the clutch of retarded men I used to take to the polls to vote. (True Story!) I wondered what effect I had on Key West politics, with my Super Voter Powers!
Used to be the curious class of voters (as distinguished from the action class) got their marching orders from the MSM, but little by little, people are getting addicted to what's called narrowcasting, where each person has such a wide choice of information and entertainment that they never have to go outside their comfort range.
But of course, ads are designed to move you to buy things, and they can prod you right in your tender emotional behind, so we're getting sophisticated in dodging the ads, with TiVo and selective attention to what we want to see.
Blogs fit well into this sort of tight personal interest. I didn't say progressive blogs, did I?
So stay interesting. Don't get all trolly and ruin the allure of DailyKos.
