Last week I was on Capitol Hill as part of a lobby day effort organized by DC Vote. I lead a team of citizen lobbyists from the District of Columbia as we went to several Congressional offices asking each one to support (and co-sponsor) H.R. 328 - the DC Fair and Equal House Voting Rights Act.
This bill would give the 600,000-plus people who live in the District of Columbia voting representation in the House of Representatives – which is something we've never had.
It was a great turn-out and we had hundreds of people walking the halls of Congress bringing attention to this issue.
While our efforts last week were important, it's critical that members of Congress hear from their own constituents on this issue. That's where (hopefully) you come in. Those of us who live in Washington, DC need people around the country to weigh in on this bill if we are going to make progress on our taxation without representation situation. We need our friends around the country to take action on our behalf to their voting Senators and Representatives.
