I wandered over to www.al.com, a summary of Alabama news items from major state newspapers, to check out the local happenings. Usually, they consist of a national news headline, local sports, and the occasional major car accident. But while reading an article in the Birmingham News, which seems like a somewhat less conservative paper than the MObile Press-Register, I couldn't help but notice, what seems to me, a propaganda tone to the piece
Besides the misleading tone, I also was forced to ponder, yet again, the question "Is Bush really as devious/evil as he seems, or merely the neocon flack that many see him as?" It's hard for me to conclude anything other than that he is firmly both, although he is capable of showing semi-human traits on a rare occasion. One such moment is featured in the link above, in which Bush is described by a fallen soldier's father as "wiping tears out of his eyes."
What is also interesting here is that Bush gave 45 minutes of face time to this family from Alabama, who are clearly Republicans, but yet Bush won't even meet with Cindy Sheehan because he is too cowardly to face the world outside of his bubble.
Without further ado, let us take a look at this meeting between Bush and this family, and take a guess as to what goes on in Bush's Brain, if we're brave that is. At the very least, I'd like to point out the rather disgusting bias in the article because it shocks me how such blatant intellectual dishonesty is proudly practiced by individuals who claim to be educated.
ALthough I won't rate this piece as a good read, it certainly is an absurd one. It starts off interestingly enough, however:
Hiller got his chance to unload on the president in April of last year when he and his wife, Glenda, and Dusty Hiller's daughter, Hope, met with Bush at Tuskegee University. But after 45 tear-moistened minutes, Hiller changed his mind.
"I told him before I left, `I was going to tell you I didn't like you, but I've changed my feelings now,'" the Waverly resident said. "He said, `Well, good.'"
YES.....I mean, WHAT?! Finally, I thought I was going to read a story about a soldier's parent having the opportunity to confront the moron who ignored the will of a country and indirectly caused the deaths of over 3k American soldiers. Alas...the Bush team is not actually going to allow someone who could possibly disagree with them get a personal meeting with Bush.
But the father who is quoted just above goes on to say to Bush that he doesn't want his son to die "in vain." And then, Bush says something that seems to have probably slipped out without his handlers' approval. The father tells Shrub that "... I didn't want him to pull out of Iraq because I felt like my son would have been killed in vain if he did.." Bush's response is...baffling, shocking, disturbing, stupid, and all kinds of other adjectives. He tells a unfortunate, misguided, and grieving father of a dead soldier that "If you get anything out of this today, I hope you understand that we're not pulling out... I feel that I'm right. I don't know why I feel so strong. But I feel that I'm right."
?
Anyone would have to be unbelievably arrogant( which Shrub is) to say such a thing, but what about his tears? The guy can't possily have enough talent or willpower to effectively 'act', so what gives? This is the part about Shrub and his belief in his own delusions (nixonesque) that we've recognized for some time now. Bush has something in common with all the evangelicals, deadenders, winguts, racists, bigots, and other weirdos that make up the majority of his disaffected supporters: they are all simply tools to be used by the right's Machine. Pretty soon, when they are completely through with Bush, the Right will trash the moron with no regard to his services as a lackey for 8+ years. Bush Sr. should cry...his son will be the poster boy of failure for both the Left and Right for years to come, and the old man has realized that history will not treat the Bush Klan kindly.
Shrub's tears at that Tuskeegee meetup were real...the tears of a deluded man. The real tearjerker is watching families across the world lose member s simply because Shrub has a strong "feeling." Next time he gets one of those, I suggest George take a TUMS, and the 'gut feeling' should go away within half an hour.
