Boy, the right wing douchebags have sunk to a new low: virtual vandalism.
John Edwards Second Life Campaign HQ Vandalized
Shortly before midnight (CST) on Monday, February 26, a group of republican Second Life users, some sporting "Bush ‘08″ tags, vandalized the John Edwards Second Life HQ. They plastered the area with Marxist/Lenninist posters and slogans, a feces spewing obsenity, and a photoshopped picture of John in blackface, all the while harrassing visitors with right-wing nonsense and obsenity-laden abuse of Democrats in general and John in particular.
For those of you who don't know what Second Life is, it's a 3-D virtual world on the internet, built and owned by the residents. I tried it once, but decided it wasn't for me after another character (who was smoking an enormous joint) said to me: "F&%# your mother". I politely told him that my mother was very old and he likely didn't want to have intercouse with her. (I assumed he was a teenager)

Nonetheless, a John Edwards supporter set up a virtual headquarters on Second Life to coordinate campaign activities and scout for volunteers.
Second Life is fun, social, and gives it's residents a unique set of tools to coordinate. Groups, inventory, the ability to code, program, and script an environment... all of these things contribute to an interactive environment, and this give people more power.
Second Life is apparently not a utopia, however, because Republicans are there too. Perhaps John Edwards and his supporters should stick to the "real" world where there are consequences for such actions. Surely these Rethugs wouldn't have the guts to vandalize the real office.
