The Employee Free Choice Act just passed the House with 241-185, with 228 Democrats and 13 Republicans voting in favor. This is a great day for working Americans, who will gain the freedom to bargain collectively for better wages, benefits, and job security if this bill becomes law.
This is a great achievement, but our work is far from over. Getting this through the Senate is going to be a much tougher battle, and the business lobby, which gave House members a pass knowing it was going to win, is going to go after senators much more aggressively. It's important that we keep up the pressure on Senate Democrats and urge them not to waiver in the face of pressure from the business community.
