We’re trying not to turn on the tv in our home this week and I made the mistake of taking a quick peek at Good Morning America this morning. I’m sooooooooo sorry I did. They’ve managed to find another case of a missing woman whose husband made public pleas for his wife’s safe return. Turns out he killed her and they’re already comparing the case to Scott Peterson’s. So now we’re treated to a daily dose of the "oh look – another white woman killed & mutilated by her husband" show on the morning news roundup.
Now I don’t know if this guy snapped or if he’d been working his way up to this final act of violence for a long while, but this pisses me off. We NEVER hear the news-readers talk about domestic violence – they just tell us when someone’s killed their spouse.
It’s more sensational. The bloodier the better in their eyes right?
Make the jump...
I’m lucky – I’ve never been the victim of this sort of violence – but hundreds of thousands of women in our society can’t say that. I wish the news would report about this problem but they remain silent. Here are a few facts from the The Family Violence Prevention Fund’s Get the Facts Page ...
Estimates range from 960,000 incidents of violence against a current or former spouse, boyfriend, or girlfriend per year1 to three million women who are physically abused by their husband or boyfriend per year.

Nearly one-third of American women (31 percent) report being physically or sexually abused by a husband or boyfriend at some point in their lives.

Thirty percent of Americans say they know a woman who has been physically abused by her husband or boyfriend in the past year.

Intimate partner violence is primarily a crime against women. In 2001, women accounted for 85 percent of the victims of intimate partner violence (588,490 total) and men accounted for approximately 15 percent of the victims (103,220 total).
Many of these abusive partners end up killing the target of their abuse and rage...
On average, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends in this country every day. In 2000, 1,247 women were killed by an intimate partner.
Men are victims of this sort of abuse too. Believe it or not, I used to know a big ‘ol Secret Service Agent who was abused by hit wife before they split up.
But overall, this is something that affects women. And I hate to say it but I think that’s a big reason the MSM aren’t reporting on this shit. I mean seriously – three women are killed by their husbands or boyfriends every frickin’ day (?????) and this isn’t even a blip on the fuckin radar for our newsreaders.
Like I said, I don’t know if this was the ultimate act of an abusive husband, but it brought to mind the thousands of people who suffer in silence with little or no hope of a way out. So I did a little digging and found the following information for anyone out there who might need help. This abuse cuts across race and socioeconomic lines – so don’t think that members of this fairly educated and well off community don’t get hit on a regular basis.

This murder isn’t news. It happens every day, and the MSM (as usual) are completely missing the point of this sad and tragic story.
The real news is that three other women will die today.
And tomorrow.
And the day after that...
Silence only allows this shit continue.
I don’t know about you but this pisses me off to no end.
