I spent a lot of time online today, way more than usual, and I couldn't help but notice the disproportionate amount of coverage given to boring national news around here.
So I decided to dig around, like a good journalist, and come up with some real good stuff that didn't make the national headlines. I'm tired of all the same old, tired, "AG Obstructed Justice" Gonzales crap. I know, I know, he's a lawyer and lawyers are a big deal, but seriously, who cares? It's just a personnel matter.
So I did some research and found some stuff that I haven't seen reported at all in the MSM that you WILL NOT BELIEVE.
Read on for details.
Check this shit out, from Oregon's Sandy Post:
Boring Lays out 2007 Goals.
During its Tuesday, March 6, meeting, the Boring Community Planning Organization identified the goals it plans to address in 2007.
Otto noted that 18 residents signed up to help implement the goals. "What will happen is that we’ll look at the different goals and objectives and try to form a committee out of that. Then we’ll develop a work plan."
That's right. A Boring Community Planning Organization. 18 residents. A committee. A work plan. And not a single mention of it in a national news forum. Not FAUX News, not CNN, not the networks, not even MSNBC.
This, my friends, is the true function of the blogs. To dig deeper than the corporate-beholden, LIEberman-asskissing, corrupt, Repuglican noise machine that is the mainstream media to bring the news directly to the people. Without hardworking bloggers like us, and by "us" I especially mean myself, news like this would be lost on those who do not have the sheer willpower to spend hours online digging for news or the good fortune to live in Boring.
There was an excellent but somewhat boring diary today entitled Another DKos 'high water mark' set today dedicated to briefly congratulating ourselves on all of the good work we have done, but I wanted to add my own small voice to the chorus of self-congratulation and point out that, yet again, we have reported a major story here on DKos that the MSM totally failed to pick up on.
Boring is a better place today (and I didn't even get to the part about the upcoming "Celebration in Boring"), because of their Community Planning Organization Meeting and because of our refusal to be silent.
