While doing some googling today on another topic, I stumbled upon a site called www.conservativejobs.com Being curious to see who is looking to hire conservatives these days, I decided to take a look. What I found was a mix of the funny, the sad, and the strange.
First up was a posting for Mark Foley seeking Interns for the Fall:
Looking at the site there are actually ads for many House Republicans looking for interns, and I suspect that this ad was probably done long ago and scheduled to run now. (I say that because there is also an ad for an intern for the MAJORITY Whip's office.) But it was still funny to see an ad that says it was posted just a couple of weeks ago from one of our favorite republican peodphiles. Especially considering that the organization "Stop Child Predators" also has an ad on the site looking for interns.
What I was also surprised to see is the number of television stations that are advertising at the conservativejobs.com website, including an internship with the ABC News Political department. Something like 20-25% of the ads on the site are from televisin stations. So one can't help but wonder if these stations are also advertising on "progressive" job boards (if they exist.) or if only conservatives need to apply. And these are positions that have a direct impact on the stories that are covered at local stations, such as the Assignment Editor at the CBS affiliate in Pittsburgh. It might be worth having others out there do more research on the topic. It could and another nail to the "Liberal Media" coffin.
And then there were the organizations that I can't figure out for the life of me as to why they are even posting there, most notably the Marijuana Policy Project. First rule in marketing, know your target audience, and in this case it ain't it!
It is probably worth noting that you have to sign up at the page to actually view the details of any ads, and I did not do so. So what the requirements are for some of these gems I can only guess. It is also worth saying that if you want to see all of the jobs on the site, just do a blanket search holding down Crtl to select all of the catagories. Also this was my first time trying to add photos, and while I got the main one I wanted up, I couldn't figure out how to delete the bad link box.
