Wow, and some were foolish to think the Right Wing Noise machine was in it's last throes. Josh Marshall over at Talking Points Memo has two more excellent posts about the new radio ad being run by New Mexicans for Honest Courts.
From Josh Marshall at TPM:
THE CORRUPTION RUNS very, very deep. Hear the radio attack ad Republicans are running against David Iglesias in New Mexico. Some weird mix of parody and infamy. But give it a listen. As I said, the depth of the moral corruption of the GOP at the moment is profound. And it shows itself in both the contemporary (bribery and self-dealing) and Early Modern (bodily and moral decay) senses of the word.
Here a direct link to the radio ad: http://www.honestcourts.com/...
In the ad you hear these fascinating points:
"Paid for by New Mexicans for Honest Courts" Dog whistle: Dishonest people support David Iglesias.
David Iglesias cut Sweetheart deals on his big corruption case yet lost 23 of 24 counts at trial. Dog whistle: David is a loser that talks big but cuts cozy deals with criminals and then they get off because he's incompetent.
Was told about 3000 suspect voter registration forms and that a crack dealer was busted with them but David Iglesias looked the other way. Dog whistle: Massive voting fraud that David looked the other way are you listening Democratic voters and did you notice a crack dealer was involved and they're usually black?
David Iglesias looked the other way on fraud. Dog whistle: David always looks the other way when it comes to crime and fraud in New Mexico.
David Iglesias busted a girl for putting Bubble gum on a speeding ticket and took taxpayer junkets around the world and now he's trying to play the race card. Dog whistle: David spends his time on frivolous crap while looking the other way on crime and fraud.
A New Mexico State Supreme court justice called him an ingrate. Dog whistle: A high ranking Justice official called him an ingrate so clearly he's a very, very bad man.
The ad closes with "David Iglesias still can't figure out why he was fired, come on David isn't it obvious?" Dog whistle: This speaks for itself, YOUR FIRED, NOW SHUT THE FUCK UP.
See there were plenty of performance problems with David Iglesias but Gonzales was trying to be a nice guy and not go public with this information. But now that David Iglesias opened his big mouth, well New Mexicans for Honest Courts had no choice but to publicly rip David a new asshole and if the other seven former District attorneys don't keep their mouth shut, well you know the drill.
More from Josh Marshall:
SO WHO'S BEHIND the anti-David Iglesias radio ad now running in New Mexico?
The website of the group running the ad, New Mexicans for Honest Courts, says that the group's chairman is Linda Chavez Krumland.
Krumland was an at-large delegate to the 2004 Republican National Convention.
FEC records show, not surprisingly, that Krumland is a major contributor to Republican candidates in New Mexico. And she lists her business as Roswell Toyota.
A year ago, Krumland's husband Tom -- also a 2004 RNC delegate -- in a heap of trouble after he and state Rep. Dan Foley tricked the New Mexico state National Guard into arranging an F-16 flyover to mark the opening of his new dealership. When first confronted about the scam, Krumland said, "If we offended anybody, then they’re unpatriotic." As the controversy continued to grow, he eventually was forced to apologize.
In any case, you can see the Krumland's seem to be real pieces of work.
There's probably more to find out about New Mexicans for Honest Courts and the Krumlands. If your sleuthing bears fruit, let us know. .
Go over to Talking points memo and give them some love, I sent them $20 back in December and that's was the best damn money I ever spent.
