Also: An example of how you can make a difference.
After Googling up the financial connection between Fox News and the CBC, I emailed the revelation to every blogger I could think of. And it eventually made its way to the Kos front page.
I did the same thing about Fox News' anti-Democratic Party and anti-MoveOn.org message polling about the debates. And look where it ended up!
Then I watched Robert Greenwald's "Fox Attacks Black America" video again. Check out the black guest who defends Michael Richards' N-word paroxysm. Then listen to what Hannity says at the end:
Always love having you, 'preciate it, proud to be on your board.
Hannity is on this guy's board? The board of the African-American "Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny?"
Of course he is! It's such a natural fit.
But has board member Hannity donated, too? Has his employer?
Truth be told, I was the one who researched and created the initial petition against the Fox News debate in Nevada, emailed it to a bunch of Nevada bloggers and activists, and through those contacts eventually got referred to a MoveOn contact. I don't think it was my contact that prompted MoveOn to create their own petition and promote it in Greenwald's "Fox Attacks Obama" video, but I know I brought the issue to the attention of a lot of people. And to think, it all started with a zero-comment diary (with a zero-tip tip jar) on Daily Kos! The research from that petition also landed on the Kos front page, as well as a lot of other places. Lesson: Any one person can create change online. Just do some research, email all the bloggers and activists you can think of, repost it on MyDD (Kos reads it), and amazing things can happen.
So I'm wondering now if any of you can do some research on this? I'm trying to find out where News Corp. or Fox News would disclose their charitable giving? Is corporate giving included in a company's quarterly reports, perhaps?
