There is a comprehensive list now at TPM that compares the votes by Senators Clinton and Obama on 69 issues that relate to the war in Iraq since Mr. Obama entered the Senate in 2005. It is an illuminating list. It seems that Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton really have been two peas in a pod when it comes to their positions on the war. In just one instance has Mrs. Clinton disagreed with Mr. Obama in their votes, that is, whether to confirm a particular general. In every other matter, their records on serious and not serious issues are identical.
What is interesting is that Mr. Lieberman, the war monger from Connecticut and former Democratic Party member newly an Independent, voted with Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama fully 84 percent of the time.
I write none of this to praise or condemn either Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Obama. I write simply because there is a sense here at daily kos of some immense difference on the war. I would like to applaud Mrs. Clinton, however, for her determination to stand up against the President in the veto fight.
