Mark Corallo, ex-DOJ spokesman under Ashcroft, says that Gonzo's time is up. Who is Corallo?
Check this out.
In the linked article Corallo is saying:
Some Republicans, including former Justice Department spokesman Mark Corallo, say Lone Star loyalty "is the only reason Gonzales is still around." He says Gonzales should step down over mismanagement of the U.S. attorneys flap.
"Alberto Gonzales' loyalty to George Bush has got to trump George Bush's loyalty to Alberto Gonzales," Corallo says.
This is intriguing because Corallo has been a hired PR guy for some prominent Republicans in trouble, like Karl Rove. From the Wikipedia entry linked above:
Shortly before the indictment of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice President Cheney's chief of staff, related to Libby's alleged involvement in the outing of Valerie Plame, Corallo became a part of Karl Rove's "public relations defense team." Corallo spoke to the media on Rove's behalf, and denied reports that Rove was under indictment for his involvement in "Plamegate". Corallo has also attended a fundraiser to raise money for Libby's legal defense fund at the residence of James Carville and Mary Matalin.
If Corallo is just speaking for himself, perharps he's hinting to Gonzo that he's available to be his PR guy. Or maybe he's hinting to Gonzo that Rove is ready to throw him under the bus. We got a hint of that during Sampson's testimony.
