Maybe I'm experiencing one of those hormonal cycle things, but I'm just not inspired at all by the 2008 presidential candidates of either party. Yeah, "ours" are better than "theirs," but so far, none of the candidates have inspired me to do anything...besides write this Kos diary bitching about how "MEH" they all are.
I'm not writing this to attack any one candidate, so partisan hacks or candidate fans, get your panties out of the knot.
I want to be inspired, like I was by candidates like Wesley Clark and Howard Dean in 2004. I want to make donations, walk door-to-door, work the polls, and care about a particular candidate again, but I don't. Am I the lone ranger on this one?
So far, each candidate strikes me as having the mentality of this:
I want candidates for president that will speak their mind without giving a damn about polls.
I want a candidate who will do what is right, simply because it is the right thing to do.
I want someone who is a leader, not a triangulator.
I want someone who has a broad base of experience.
I want someone to whom war is not just another political issue.
I want someone who not only talks tough, but who follows through and makes the difficult decision.
I want someone who will tell the American people that it is time for us all to make collective sacrifices to get our damned country back on the right track.
Most of all, I want a president who will inspire all Americans to be better people, both at home and abroad.
Anyone else uninspired by the current field?
