I linked to http://news.rgj.com/...
from the www.rawstory.com page with headline, "Gov. Gibbons cites WSJ 'payola' rumor."
The story details the whining of Republican Gov. Jim Gibbons about reports in the Wall Street Journal that he is being investigated by the FBI for receiving payments from defense contractors. Gibbons advances the theory that the WSJ reporter was paid by the "Democrats" to cover the story, thus influencing the 2008 campaign. His 2006 Democratic opponent, Dina Titus denies relationship with the reporter, calling Gibbons' claims "preposterous."
The snark is a quote at the end of the article by a Las Vegas professor: "There is no evidence of collusion between Nevada Democrats and the Wall Street Journal, said David Damore, a political science professor at UNLV and a registered Democrat.
"First, it is a conservative newspaper that is doing this," Damore said.
"Second, this is all coming out of a lawsuit that the Democrats didn't manufacture. Third, this would predispose [sic...presuppose?] that there is some kind of organized and efficient Democratic organization."
I recently read (somewhere) that the social media Republican message machine that moves stories from blog to MSM is better than their progressive counterparts. The article (blog?) cited the Obama/madrassa report and a couple of others.
I wonder about that negative comparison. The '06 Jim Webb Senatorial campaign, working with Lowell at www.raisingkaine.com, did a brilliant job of promoting stories and "gets" off the website to the MSM. And that campaign also win the social media 2006 prize for getting the "macaca" tape on YouTube and then moving that story to the MSM.
