In 573 days ...
we will have another victory against the machine that called Max Cleland a coward
we will make a Democrat a "President-Elect" and our current lame duck a little lamer
we will defeat a man, a former textile mill owner, who betrayed his district by changing his vote on CAFTA at the last second
we will defeat the campaign that made a mockery of Paul Wellstone's funeral
we will put the last nail in the coffin of the neocons.
News from my ActBlue picks:
Al Franken
From Andy Barr, Al Franken for Senate:
Here at the office, our giant map is starting to fill with pins as Al zooms around the state in his hybrid, meeting with Minnesotans and talking about the issues. From Fulda to Ham Lake, the campaign trail is full of adventure (and pie), and you can follow along on our campaign blog (where you'll also find a recommendation for THE place to stay overnight in Redwood Falls).
Oh - and if you haven't heard, Al's going to be on CNN's Larry King Live tonight. The segment airs live at 9:00 pm Eastern (8:00 here in Minneapolis). We've been assured that there will be no questions regarding the paternity of Anna Nicole Smith's baby, but Al's been studiously preparing, just in case.
Al raised a very impressive $1.3 million in the first quarter, and he seems to be pushing on strong. He got bumped from Larry King last night by the paternity test of the year, but he'll be on tonight. I hope. Al Franken on ActBlue
Larry Kissell
The campaign that never quit is going back to full-swing mode. Larry will be going around to the counties in the 8th district as they have their Democratic Party conventions - including the Mecklenburg County Democratic Party's convention on April 21.
I've had some questions about the recount last year, and I want to affirm that Larry fought for every vote. Larry was in the middle of a third recount when he conceded ... and in NC, the first hand recount doesn't change the results because they only recount 3% of the precincts by hand, and there had to be a change (a number of added votes that, when multiplied by 33, gave us a victory) that didn't happen for us to be able to get the full hand recount. We were $80K in debt and could not pay for it on our own. Larry kept his commitment to count every vote - I was out there in Biscoe preparing copies of provisional ballots in order to combat challenges by the GOP, so I can say with all honesty that he did everything he could. We lost by 329 votes, but we're going to win in 2008. Larry Kissell on ActBlue
I'll keep you posted.
