Today marks the political death of Senator John Sununu.  Again, he voted against life-saving embryonic stem-cell research.  Again, the bill passed but does not have the votes to override an inevitable Bush veto.  For Christ's sake, I didn't even care about the political ramifications of Sununu's vote today...I just wanted him to do the right damned thing.  But he couldn't even do that.  And now, he's gonna pay.

62% of New Hampshire Republicans support stem-cell research.  He's going down hard.

The final vote was 63-34 with 3 not voting.  All three that did not vote were Democrats who will support the bill, but even still, that brings the total to 66, one vote shy of the necessary 67.  To quote the O-man, here are your worst persons in the world:

Allard (R-CO)
Bond (R-MO)
Brownback (R-KS)
Bunning (R-KY)
Casey (D-PA)
Chambliss (R-GA)
Coburn (R-OK)
Coleman (R-MN)
Corker (R-TN)
Cornyn (R-TX)
Craig (R-ID)
Crapo (R-ID)
DeMint (R-SC)
Dole (R-NC)
Domenici (R-NM)
Ensign (R-NV)
Enzi (R-WY)
Graham (R-SC)
Grassley (R-IA)
Hagel (R-NE)
Inhofe (R-OK)
Isakson (R-GA)
Kyl (R-AZ)
Martinez (R-FL)
McConnell (R-KY)
Nelson (D-NE)
Roberts (R-KS)
Sessions (R-AL)
Shelby (R-AL)
Sununu (R-NH)
Thomas (R-WY)
Thune (R-SD)
Vitter (R-LA)
Voinovich (R-OH)

Those in bold are running for re-election and must go down.  Those two Democrats in italics should be ashamed of themselves.  Period.

Steve Marchand for Senate.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
