My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over. No, President Bush didn't resign and Dick Cheney wasn't hauled away in handcuffs. Talk Radio host Don Imus was fired for making racially insensitive comments towards the Rutgers women's Basketball team. Great, can we move on now?
But...before we do, I would like to waste some more valuable space to talk about this situation.
I will admit that I'm not the biggest Hip-Hop fan. I'm not one of these old farts who like to pin the fall of Western Civilization on Hip-Hop, but as a cynic, I think that 75 to 85 percent of Hip Hop is musically bad. Now, I know there are some fantastic Hip Hop music out there, but where? And, why hasn't there been an effort to bring it to mainstream America?
However, what I've noticed so far in this grotesque charade involving Don Imus is individuals who want to blame Don Imus' comments on Hip Hop.
Yes, the majority of Hip Hop is vulgar and demeaning to Women of all colors, not just African American women, but all Women. But Hip Hop didn't make Don Imus spew racially insensitive comments towards young women old enough to be his daughter. Don Imus made that choice. If you know this man's history, it was inevitable.
While I agree that "ho's" and "bitches" has been an unfortunate part of our vernacular it shouldn't excuse Imus from his comments.
For some reason, the folks who like to politicize Personal Responsibility want to make excuses for Don Imus and cry that there is a Double Standard.
Okay.
Since we've entered upon the subject of Double Standards, I've got one for you:
Why is Don Imus being made into a victim for spewing Racist remarks, but it was okay for the Dixie Chicks to be made into pariahs for criticizing the President?
Why does Ann Coulter get a pass for smearing the 9/11 widows who wanted answers to why their husbands were murdered by terrorists?
Why does Bill O'Reilly remain on the air after he said that Shawn Hornbeck, the young man who was kidnap and rape repeatedly, seemed like he had more fun.
Why is Glenn Beck being allowed to pollute the public airwaves after he called Nick Berg's father a "scumbag" and questioned the patriotism of Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress.
I could continue with the verbal diarrhea that is spewed from the mouths of Neil Boortz, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Michelle Malkin, William Donahue, Mike Gallagher and of course the measuring stick, Rush Limbaugh, but I'm actually making myself sick just looking back at the crap they're feeding to a bunch of stupid Americans who don't have a clue to how the Government works.
The point I'm trying to make is, if you want to throw Hip Hop in the mix as being part of the erosion to our culture, fine, be my guess. But don't forget the Conservative noise machine that really is a device to promote a bigoted and sexist agenda in this country.
Conservatives love playing the victim. The oppress minority. Even though they fail to see that Conservatism is an ideology that is designed to protect the majority and leave nothing in return to the minority.
Double standards?
Tell that to the Dixie Chicks.
Combined they are the mothers of 7 children and because one dare to express outrage at a President for wanting to invade a country based on false pretenses, the three women were met with grief, death threats, and unneccesary questions regarding their patriotism. Still, the Conservatives, lovers of America didn't come to their defense because they questioned their government.
And Don Imus is a victim?
Conservatives are victims of Double Standards?
