I just listened to Rep Tim Walz from MN talk at the Humphrey Institute in Minneapolis this week on Minnesota Public Radio's website.
The entire piece is worth listening to but at the very end he is addressing a question about the budget and he says (paraphrasing here):
What good does it do us to spend all this money on defense? What if we end up completely safe, but we have no money to spend on education and healthcare and internal infrastructure?
If we do this, WHAT ARE WE PROTECTING?
Go listen to the whole thing.
