This diary will be short. I have a friend in Tennessee who has a friend from VA Tech and she passed her letter on to me.
Dear Friends and Family,
Words cannot express the gratitude I feel from your wonderful outpouring of love and support. I attended the memorial service today which provided a great deal of comfort in the midst of the storm. Here is a small, but powerful way you can support the Virginia Tech Hokies and honor those campus members who lost their lives this week. Just find something orange and maroon and wear it with pride this Friday, April 20!
Love,

Virginia Tech family members across the country have united to declare this Friday, April 20th, an "Orange and Maroon Effect" day to honor those killed in the tragic events on campus Monday, and to show support for Virginia Tech students, faculty, administrators, staff, alumni, and friends. "Orange and Maroon Effect" was born several years ago as an invitation to Tech fans to wear orange and maroon to Virginia Tech athletic events. We invite everyone from all over the country to be a part of the Virginia Tech family this Friday, to wear orange and maroon to support the families of those who were lost, and to support the school and community we all love so much.
Even if you're not from Virginia, or know no one who either goes to Tech or went there, I think we can all understand the pain they are going through. Here in New England, we lost two vibrant, funny, smart, young men. And other states have been affected as well, since students can from all over the country. And the professors too.
So in solidarity, find a ribbon, wear something orange and maroon,
And pass it on to all you know.
Peace.
