Friends, don’t ever let anyone tell you that your vote doesn’t count. After fighting for every single voter in my district to be heard, we still came up just 330 votes short of victory last election. I know, however, it wouldn't have even been close if all my Netroots friends could have voted for me. I always feel so honored by my reception in the community here, and (given many of the comments I've seen) to be the 'adopted' candidate of so many good Democrats from all over. For those of you that always say you wish you could vote for me, now is your chance.
The wonderful folks at Democracy For America have just opened the vote on their DFA All-Star list of 2008 candidates. I'm proud to be among those candidates, and would be honored to have your support.
Please go right now, register with DFA if you aren’t already (they do great work) and make your voice heard. One vote can make a difference. Thank you so much for your support.
You know, I'm in the middle of my district-wide Kick-Off Tour, and the people I meet keep telling me how they wish they could have done more, convinced more people to brave the rain, made more reminder calls or driven just one more voter to the polls. It really is amazing what a difference one vote can make.
My opponent, Congressman Robin Hayes, has been the one vote in Congress that made the difference for the Bush administration repeatedly. Sending our jobs overseas with CAFTA, giving President Bush "Fast Track" trade authority and denying our brave troops a much needed and deserved combat bonus. The list just goes on and on.
I'm counting on your one vote now to help set things right.
Remember, my multi-millionaire opponent is one of the richest members of Congress and yet he nearly got defeated by me, a teacher and former textile worker who had to max out credit cards to make ends meet. We were blessed with nearly 15,000 contributions last year, raising nearly $800,000 in one of the poorest Districts in the nation. That's people powered politics, and why he will be defeated in 2008.
Winning the DFA All-Star vote will expand our network even further and help put us in a great position going into 2008. Please vote right now! I appreciate it so much.
As always, thanks for everything you do to help turn North Carolina blue!
