CNN says:
"Pessimism about Iraq continues to mount, even before Wednesday's news of the bombings in Baghdad."
For the latest crushing poll numbers follow me below the fold....
NOTE: This poll is from a CNN.com video below the Politics header on their site, thus I can't link to it...
The CNN Opinion Research poll for April 10-12th, MOE 4.5%, states the following:
Are things going badly for U.S. in Iraq?
YES 69%
Compared to 54% in June '06 and 62% in October. This is the most negative assessment yet recorded and is a clear mandate of the Democratic stance on Iraq.
Will additional troops in Iraq help achieve U.S. Goals?
More Likely 29%
No difference 52%
Less Likely 17%
That's a crushing majority of 71% who state that The Surge is meaningless, except insofar as it costs more American lives.
Who are you more likely to side with in Iraq dispute between Bush and Congress?
60% Dems in Congress
37% Bush
There are astonishing displays of obtuseness on the part of Bush, Cheney, and "BombIran" McCain.
Keep it up, guys. They're on the verge of forever discrediting the Republican Party as a (more or less) legitimate partner in our nation's government. I remember, long ago, when Republicans at least had a remote relationship to reality. Clearly, Bush & Cheney's destructive, nihilist policies are more important than the welfare of their own country and of their soldiers. They are literally DARING us to impeach them.
Presently, I am afraid we shall be forced to oblige them.
***UPDATE*** Yeah, right. Pegasus mentions this diary in which the Post makes clear that the Congressional Dems are on the verge of caving.
I swear to God. What the f*ck is wrong with these people???
The Democrats MUST fight. Caving is absolutely unacceptable. People want them to fight Bush! The proof is there!
Do the Dems want Americans to think that they're 'just as bad as the Repugs?' That 'all politicians are the same?' Keep it up. This is the best opportunity they'll ever have to cement a permanent majority and establish themselves as the party of true responsibility and character (relatively speaking). And to throw it away because they're scared of a Bush/Cheney temper tantrum!
Can't we DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS????
There's more on CNN. You know where it is.
Talk amongst yourselves.
