Bullshit.
We are where we are as a result of ineptitude, delusion, incompetence, corruption, ethnocentrism, corporatism, shall I continue?
We were brought where we are. We were dragged from reality, many of us kicking and screaming, into the aftermath of ignorance of history by an Administration so devious, it sleeps soundly at night while those who they feel to be lesser individuals are either tasked with fulfilling their delusional whims or are dying in uncounted multitudes after being thrust into the innards of a civil war.
Period.

John McCain Goes Manchurian on the Daily Show
(TV Land) -- This evening's airing of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central Network, the nation's top rated news network, revealed a frustrated, rambling, drooling, incoherent John McCain who revealed himself to be THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE. While admitting that "mistakes were made" his final "argument" for deployment of an additional 10,000 troops in Iraq as a "surge" requiring extension of service of soldiers currently fighting there, after gratuitous waving and wrapping self in the flag, and reminding host Stewart of McCain's own military service (you served? really?) was "We are where we are."
We are where we are because of the Republican Party, who took a moderately self-serving collective value shared among politicians to an astounding level of ignominy and worse, bought into their own delusion of ‘permanence’ and righteousness, thus robbing the citizen further of his or her national dignity.
We are where we are because of an intellectually challenged, but eternally greedy and narcissistic President, who reverberated a perverse mutation of his father’s corruption and surrounded himself with more contemporary and deeply more disturbing economic and religious sociopaths.
We are where we are because bogus ‘mavericks’ like John McCain, who would otherwise have left this mortal coil one day as a national icon, had dutifully decided to hedge the prestige of his accomplishments on perpetuating a bold-faced lie- a lie for which he still pushes today; and (no word can describe the shame,) molds the lie with the hopes of propelling his egocentric agenda to the Oval Office.
Let it be said loud and clear. We are here because our government, including certain Democrats, but overwhelmingly the Republican Party, has failed us both deliberately and miserably.
You are why we are where we are, Senator McCain. You and yours.
UPDATE: "Mistakes were made" is a poor replacement for "I was mistaken." Try saying "mistakes were made to your boss next time you do something wrong and see what happens.
