In this morning’s news I expected to be uplifted, proud, and pleased that the appropriations bill to fund the troops with a nasty little pill for President Bush to swallow embedded within like a raisin in a loaf of bread had passed the House and will make its way to the White House for a veto.
I eagerly anticipate this veto, welcome it, hope the president takes out his mightier than the sword pen and confirms once and for all that he does not really support the troops, he supports war and the resulting death and destruction that war brings.
But this diary is about the media insistence on the Gooper message that this funding bill is not a funding bill, it’s a timetable bill. Worse, than that – the AP headline this morning:
Senate Expected to Pass Troop Exit Bill

The Troop Exit Bill???????? What??? Where When How Why is this being called the "Troop Exit Bill"? This is a funding bill. A veto of this bill sends a message to the troops that their president does not support their efforts. A veto of this bill means the president has a war agenda, at the cost of the lives of the troops, and if he can’t have it as long as he wants it, he is willing to pull the plug on their food, water, ammo, equipment, housing, everything.
Go ahead Mr. President. Veto this bill. Show America that you do not support the troops. Make my day.
