I recorded the live feed of the BYU Alternative Commencement that so many of us here at DailyKos.com helped make possible with donations. If you would like a copy of the audio file of what I thought was a really great event (including a great speech by Ralph Nader), I posted the file up (with coordinator Joe Vogel's permission) at a file sharing site where anyone can download.
Details available below the fold:
I am just going to post the email I sent to BYU event coordinator Joe Vogel (He's the gentleman that introduced Ralph Nader) so that everyone has instructions.
OK, though I was not able to email the file directly to you, I was able to post the file to a free file sharing website where anyone who wants the audio file can download it. (NOTE: If any of the following instructions is confusing to you, just get anyone who knows computers to read it. It will be a piece of cake for them. You can also call me or email me if you need help.) I also zipped the file so that it is now smaller for a quicker download. The file in zipped format is about 250 MB instead of 333 MB. Anyone can download the file for free at the following link:
http://www.sharebigfile.com/...
which you should be able to get to by clicking here.
When people go to that free website and go to that address, they will see a number in a small box on the bottom left. They just need to type that number into the box to the right of it and hit the "Submit" button. Then, they wait 15 seconds and then hit the green "Download" button and their file download will start. On my cable modem, it only took about 6 minutes to download.
After downloading the file, they will have a zip file. Most Macintosh users will have stuffit expander that they can use to unzip the file (if they don't they can get find a free version by going to www.apple.com and doing a search on "Stuffit" [added note: Mac users just click here to get Stuffit]). Windows users who do not have a an unzip program can get a free trial evaluation version of winzip at www.winzip.com.
The file should play on any Macintosh or Windows Computer that has the latest version of the free quicktime software available at www.quicktime.com. In addition, the file should play on any computer that has itunes with Quicktime built in.
Just find someone (or some place on campus) with a fast connection and download the file. After you download it, have someone burn a few copies to CD so you have some to pass out to people, if you so desire. The sound quality is decent, so listening can be quite enjoyable.
Thanks to everyone for doing this. Together, we are changing America, by working together. Congratulations to all the graduates. You are off to a beautiful start.

If anyone has any questions or problems, please feel free to post them here.
Thanks,
Steven Joseph :)
Update: dbsf was kind enough to create 2 new files from my file, one is the same as mine, except much smaller and in mono instead of stereo, the second one is just the Ralph Nader speech and it is in mono (and therefore not that big) also.
Please go to this link if you want the smaller files.
Thank you very much dbsf!
Steven Joseph :)
