I recently started a website called www.savethemiddleclass.com. Currently it is just a blog with almost no readership. I want to build it into a movement targeting the middle class.
I have been approached twice by people wanting to buy the name. Once by a conservative group and the other I could not identify. We all know that the middle class is being killed by the policies of the Bush Administration and by the "Corporatization" of the American political system. I want to expose and fight these policies. I am hoping to turn this into an AARP type organization for the middle class but without the corporate influence that seems to even permeate the AARP. What I want is bloggers who would post more commentary and opinion as we gear up for 2008. I have been posting some articles but with almost no readership yet it has felt like I was writing for myself. I would like people who have strong communication skills and could help me build the site. I would be willing to share any revenue that the site generates. I love Daily Kos but feel that this site is basically preaching to the choir. I want my site to change minds which is why I chose the name. The middle class comes is both conservative and liberal and everywhere in between. If we can get people to vote based on what is best for them by giving them a complete picture of the issues, I feel we can change minds before the 2008 election and beyond. It could also be a wake up call for the Democratic Party that we will not support those that put corporations above people. There are so many issues in our nation and progressive policies are the only way I can see that will reverse this trend of a dying middle class. If you would be interested in joining me please write to me at jeff@savethemiddleclass.com. As I said Daily Kos is an amazing source of information. I am hoping to go after a segment of the population that is not currently reading blogs. I am very open to all ideas regarding the site since this is new for me as well.
