One of the rumors out of Virginia is that John Warner is retiring and Tom Davis is being considered for the role of Virginia Senate Candidate.
You wouldn't know that if you read the amendment that Davis proposed today.
Amendment offered by Mr. Davis, Tom.
An amendment numbered 2 printed in House Report 110-136 to remove section 407 of the bill, which requires that identification cards, uniforms, protective gear, and badges of Homeland Security personnel be manufactured in the United States.
And that amendment failed by a vote of 390 to 36
Club 400 is a place for the amendments and bills that fail with 400 nays.
So, who decided it would be a good idea to remove the "Manufactured in the US" requirement for these items?
(that's under the fold)
32 Republicans and 4 Democrats.
The 4 Democrats are Berman, Matheson, Moran and Waxman.
The 32 Republicans are Bachmann, Bachus, Barton (TX), Biggert, Brady (TX), Cannon, Cantor, Chabot, Tom Davis, Dreier, Feeney, Flake, Fossella, Franks (AZ), Hall (TX), Hensarling, Hoekstra, Kingston, Kline (MN), Lewis(CA), Dan Lungren, McKeon, Neugebauer, Paul, Ramstad, Rohrabacher, Ryan (WI), Sensenbrenner, Sessions, Shadegg, Shays, and Thornberry.
So Tom Davis might be one of the few Senate candidates to precede his candidacy by proposing that Homeland Security badges be manufactured in other countries. Smooth.
Granted, Tom Davis was one of the few supporters of the Dubai deal.
So mark that down as something that should come back to jab Davis in the future.
(and yes, Ron Paul did vote yes on something)
