As you may already know, last week, the Senate Judiciary Committee issued a subpoena for Karl Rove's emails in the DOJ's possession that relate the U.S. attorney firings. They were supposed to be in by 2:00pm yesterday. Did you hear what was in them? Of course not, because AG Gonzales and the DOJ IGNORED the subpeona. They gave no explanation, no date when they would be forthcoming, not even a reason why they were ignoring the subpeona. So, what the the Dems do? Follow below to find out...
NOTHING! A la Team America, they send a strongly worded letter (yikes!) and changed the date for the documents to be submitted! Um... WTF? They just miss the date and nothing happens? This is totally weak. I can't call it anything else but weak. It panders to the worst stereotypes of the Democratic party. This not what I worked for in 2006 and sure as hell not the people I want to work for in 2008.
On another level, it just pisses me off. I mean, I know that the administration is corrupt, that's a given. But how can the members of our Judiciary Committee be so out of touch with the common people? These elected officials in our government are supposed to be subject to the same rules and regulations as the rest of the us right? So why does the Judiciary Committee permit a different set of rules for them? What would happen if I ignored a subpeona? I don't know exactly, but I can bet that the court would not reset the date when I was supposed to show up for it.
Another fine example of how out of touch the Dems are with the people who put them in power. Sorry, go ahead and flame me, but it is true. First the weak, slow, flacid work on lobbying reform and now this. I swear, I hate Nader, I HATE HIM - but when the Dems work like this, it makes his "two faces of the same broken system" theory make perfect sense.
Dammit. This is not what I have been working for and I'll bet you feel the same way.
