Clearly, we can no longer expect to be represented on the issue of the war in Iraq.
Our Reps are not seeing massive demonstrations, NOT EVEN the size of the pre-war demonstrations.
Nothing near the size of the immigration demonstrations.
Nothing near the size of the Vietnam movements.
Why?
I've had to shut it out, lately. My work is very taxing, I have two kids at different schools-one of them a coop (lots of work), and I am doing lots of local volunteer work to try and support some local sustainability issues.
So I haven't been following THE WAR as I should.
I take some blame.
I have not been to a protest lately , although there are ample opportunities.
I have not been arrested for civil disobediance.
How bad does it have to be?
I am not putting anything on the line....and many of my representatives aren't either.
sigh.
It's time for more grassroots action.
What might be more effective?
I think that the liberals in congress need pressure from outside, not just phone calls, but demonstrations. People putting their time in and taking risks.
