I believe some Democrats are getting into bed with evil.
As a lifelong Democrat, I felt liberal, progressive, and still very much an American.
What a difference six months of Democratic majority in the Congress makes after a drought of 12 years. They started tough, only to bend, and flex to capitulating on ending the war. I am saddened deeply. When faced with evident law breaking by the head MBA-occupant of the WH, they freeze like donkeys caught in headlight beams.
I guess I am becoming stubborn at 56 years, because the way I see things now if the Democratic Congress votes to approve the supplemental funding bill for the ‘war-occupation’ without a timeline to get out, then they are voting to have a perpetual military presence in Iraq contrary to the will of the populace.
I want to hope that sense prevails and the bill is altered to include enforceable benchmarks, but I am losing the belief that the new Congressional leaders will do the moral thing, which is to lead us out of the mess that is Iraq. Any day now, the phrase "time to move along to another topic, another law" will be spoken from the mouthpieces on the hill. There is no other issue more important than ending this illegal war, occupation, abuse of the military, alienation of other nations. The US stands alone and does not hold the high ground.
It is time to prepare for owning the war by attaching the word "Bloody" to any Democratic or Republican lawmaker, definitely any Democratic one, who votes for the supplemental funding bill, continuing Mr. Bush’s gambit.
For example, let’s take Pennsylvania’s own new Senator Robert Casey. If he votes for the supplemental funding on Iraq, he should be labeled "Bloody Bob" Casey for his part in continuing and prolonging this brutal, illegal occupation for even one day. Every other Senator or Representative needs the same "Bloody" mark from this action if they vote without a withdrawal consideration.
