There is a new documentary titled "No End In Sight" coming out on July 27th. Here's the first segment of PBS's NOW's coverage of the documentary:
More video and info on the flip.
I read about this over at Crooks and Liars and didn't see any diaries here on the subject. If this has already been diaried about my apologies but I didn't find any in a search. Here's the link for the post at C&L:
"No End In Sight" - Iraq War - the movie
From Mark Groubert at C&L (go to the post at C&L to see all of the links he posted in this review):
When I was invited to a press screening this past Friday night for the film, "No End In Sight," I sucked it up and braced myself for yet another brutal documentary on the Iraq War. What new light could this film shine that half a dozen others had not already illuminated? Let me say this: If you could only see ONE documentary on the Iraq War, let it be "No End In Sight."
The film is not being released nationally until the beginning of August (NY July 27th; LA August 3rd) so there will hopefully be a buzz building on this meticulous work. Written, produced and directed by first time filmmaker Charles Fergusen, "No End In Sight" is executive produced by Alex Gibney whose film "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" was nominated for an Academy Award.
"No End In Sight" is the winner of the Documentary Special Jury Prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival . It deserves the award and many more. The film is a shocking inside look at the stupidity, ignorance and bad decision making that went into the planning and implementation of the Iraq War.
It's the first film to chronicle the Iraq side of the descent into guerilla warfare. Numerous interviews with U.S. government officials, many for the first time, will leave you absolutely stunned! Col. Paul Hughes is of particular interest and if there was any justice, he would be given the Medal of Freedom. Additional interviews with Gen. Jay Garner, Ambassador Barbara Bodine, Richard Armitage, Col. Lawrence Wilkerson and Major General Paul Eaton will open your eyes to the incompetence and sheer idiocy of this incredible folly.

No End In Sight
From PBS's site:
This week, NOW's David Brancaccio speaks with two very different, but unforgettable men who allege that U.S. bungling in Iraq created and fueled the deadly insurgency. Paul Hughes, a retired Army colonel, was part of the transition team after the U.S. invasion of Iraq. He says key decisions were made that ignored the realities of Iraq. Omar Fekeiki was a Washington Post reporter and translator who risked his life to help U.S. journalists.

I posted another diary here which got very little attention titled
U.S. Imperial Ambitions Thwart Iraqis' Peace Plans. The American people need to know how our actions in Iraq are making things worse and not better. I believe the AlterNet story I wrote about and featured in the other diary, and this film both get to the heart of our problems in the Middle East, and the very core of it is the lies. They need to stop. If the press won't cover what we've done in Iraq, we need to tell the stories and spread the word about what's happened there and what is happening there.
We dishonor our soldiers and our veterans on this day and every day that we fail to do so. Their lives and their service are worth at least that one simple thing: THE TRUTH. Please spread the word about this movie and the AlterNet story I wrote about in the earlier diary, and let's hope that we can change the dialog in Washington DC to one where the lies stop, and we have an adult conversation about what the hell we're doing over there. I hope what I've done here helps to do that.
