Scott Nichols is the only democrat in the June 19 Special Election for the Georgia 24th state senate seat. The election is to replace Jim "Iraq is not a big thing" Whitehead, that resigned from the state senate to run for US Congress in the GA-10 Special Election on June 19 to replace rep. Charlie Norwood. Who died of lung cancer in February.
Scott Nichols has just launched his campaign web page. Take a look here.
James Marlow, the party endorsed democrat in the GA-10 Special Election was on the The Kudzu Vine radio talk show. You can listen to the interview on his candidate blog - Connecting With Georgia.
The Georgia 24th state senate district is a quite conservative district. But in a race where three republicans split the republican vote against a single democrat, things could get interesting. It could also be a sign if the democratic surge has reached Georgia yet. It was quite clear that it had not during the 2006 elections.

Media and commentators i Georgia pretty much agree that the GA-10 race is now between the two front runners Jim Whitehead (r) and James Marlow (d).
June 19 is getting close and this is our first opportunity to add to the democratic 2006 gains in congress. James Marlow is a good candidate that runs on good issues. Jim Whitehead on the other hand has publicly stated that Iraq is not a big thing, that the University of Georgia should be bombed, that we should invade Venezuela and that liberal left wing activists are intentionally registering terrorists to vote. Read about this and more here.
But fear not. The GA-10 is a winnable race and James Marlow is the man to do it.
It is the most democratic district in Georgia not represented by a democrat. Clinton won it twice and the district went democratic in the election of Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin, Attorney General Thurbert Baker, and Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond. All democrats and won in the 2006 elections.
