Here in the purple hinterlands, we find ourselves dealing with a special breed of moron on a regular basis: elected officials in the North Carolina House. One such creature is a man named Larry Brown. Mr. Brown was kind enough to grace my mail box with this delightful message:
I cannot tell you in a kind way what you liberals can do with all your waste that would make the hog lagoon issue look like a diaper. Enjoy while you can. Post that on your web page and come visit me anytime. Larry Brown
His message was written in response to this note from me:
Dear Hard-Working Representative,
Following the recent convention of the North Carolina GOP in Charlotte, a number of Republican Representatives wrote to me, complaining that the Democrats in North Carolina really aren't the majority party in the House because their candidates actually received more votes in 2006 than Democrats received. One of my colleagues recently completed an analysis of that talking point, which I am sure you'll find interesting. Her report is posted here for your easy review.
You see, NC Republicans recently had their coven meeting convention and came out swinging. They've decided that even though they don't hold a majority of seats in the House, they actually ARE the majority party because they had more total votes in 2006.
We've debunked their talking points again and again, which is apparently why they've resorted to all the doo-doo talk.
