Do they even know what it is?
Listening while cleaning house to Tucker and Jonah Goldberg discuss their love and admiration of Dick Cheney, I was stunned. Here they are both bragging about how cool it is that Cheney does not give a damn about what people think, like that is the greatest tribute, and does what he thinks is moral or right or whatever....
It makes me crazy to even hear this crap.

What part of the words "representative" government don't these bozos get? What part of "of the people, by the people, for the people" don't they get?
It got me angry and then to thinking and wondering. Why do the media (and even some here) get so snarky and negative about politicians/candidates watching the polls? Why is it called "pandering to the masses" when candidates listen and hear and advocate for the people? Isn't that their job?
I understand that there are many diverse opinions in a country, especially in one the size of the USA. I understand that is why democracy requires some compromise and at times coming together. I also understand that all of us have the Constitution to guide us. So even if the masses wanted to continues discriminatory practices, a politician has to remind us all that the we have a constitution that guarantees equal treatment for all.
I am happy that the democratic slated is filled with so many good candidates that understand they are representing the people. I hope we can awaken the populace to ignore people like Tucker, like Jonah Goldberg and others who believe that men who would put their own personal beliefs and agenda above the Constitution are heroes and leaders. Men like Bush, Cheney, Guiliani, Thompson, et all are scary despots and the people that worship and admire them are even scarier.
