In just a few weeks, July 15th to be exact, the royalty rates paid by internet radio stations will skyrocket. As mcjoan posted a while back, the rates will triple. These new rates will put many net radio stations out of business. Luckily, you can help keep independent radio voices on the net.
Full details of this issue can be found at the SaveNetRadio website, but I want to personally ask you each to contact your Senators and Representative and ask them to support the Internet Radio Equality Act. Tell your Senators to co-sponsor S. 1353, and your Representative to co-sponsor H.R. 2060.
We know how important alternative voices are in disseminating the news; that same dynamic exists in music. Without the exposure they receive on independent net radio stations, many artists and their ideas will not be heard. We will be left with the same bland corporate "choices" you find on your typical big market radio station. Please take a few minutes to help Save Internet Radio. Thanks!
