The Right Wing Echo Chamber is furiously blogging and sending out lists of friends and felons (sometimes both) that Bill Clinton pardoned for use as talking points by their minions.
One of the first mentioned, ironically, is a name that's familiar to any of us who helplessly watched the horror of the Kenneth Starr Inquisition: Susan Mcdougal.
I say 'ironically' because, unlike Scooter Libby, Susan Mcdougal actually served 18 months, many weeks of which were in solitary confinement, because she refused to lie or to be led into a deviously crafted perjury trap set by the Starr Chamber.
To many of us, and I include myself, she is a hero.
there's more:
Susan wrote the book The Woman Who Wouldn't Talk about the ordeal a few years ago, and
US News and World Report reported in April that:
The Woman of Whitewater
Susan McDougal, the bit player of the Clinton-era Whitewater scandal, is making a comeback. We hear that Hollywood producers are looking at making a story of her life. You remember her: She was the young woman once married to scandal figure Jim McDougal who went to jail for 18 months instead of testifying. Moviemakers like Paul Haggis of Oscar winners Crash and Million Dollar Baby were in Little Rock last week scouting locations, and word is that Charlize Theron is their McDougal choice.
If it's a "comeback," the film can't be made and come out soon enough.
I doubt there's anyone in this country who's voice, however reluctant, could serve to remind Bush and his arrogant cronies, or those people feeling sorry for poor Scooter, what dignity looks like.
Even the Clintons appear to have given the project their blessing.
To see Susan, in her own words, tell her story, Watch Robert Sheer's video interview
There's little question what an important and influential movie this could be, if it's released before the 08 elections.
I don't know if Susan would be willing, but What a "get" for someone like Keith Olbermann, if She'd grant an interview right about now!
