First, before I attempt to explain that Title, allow me to address the notion that Impeachment proceedings shouldn't be started until an assured majority will vote for it. Impeachment in the House is analogous to Indictment in criminal court, and Speaker Pelosi's position would be akin to a prosecutor who refused to present a case to the Grand Jury until after a jury had convicted.
There was no majority in favor if Impeaching Nixon when the process started because it's a fucking investigation, Goddammit!
Impeach The Dick for the Highest Crimes, violation of the Fourth Amendment for the warrantless wiretaps of American citizens, and the Eighth Amendment, for torture. These counts can be easily proven in excruciating detail, and after a month or more of televised hearings the chances of Impeachment being voted out of the House should be good. Further, by starting with The Dick the appearance of an attempted coup by Pelosi is eliminated.
But here's the thing; even if Impeachment fails, it forces Republican House members, all of whom are up for re-election, to defend the least popular politician of any of our lifetimes, during their re-election campaign. What better ammo could any Democratic challenger have than a recorded vote by the Republican incumbent against impeaching The Dick after twenty days of televised evidence of his involvement in direct and gross violations of the Constitution??
Personally, as bad as I hate to say it, I'm starting to wonder whose side Nancy Pelosi is on.
I want a new table, one with Impeachment as its' centerpiece.
