A few days ago I posted a diary about how the failed War on Drugs was initially created just to target minorities for persecution. Today's topic reveals even further evidence that the failed War on Drugs has an undeniable racist agenda. In 1948 the National Film Board of Canada with the aid of drug experts from the Royal Mounted Police produced Drug Addict which was a 34 Minute long Documentary intended to help train Canadian law enforcement and medical professionals about drug addiction. This educational film was banned by the US Government in fact that Unconstitutional Censorship of this Canadian Documentary remains in effect even to this day nearly 60 years later.
DRUG ADDICT BAN PUZZLES DIRECTOR; Prize Canadian Documentary Film Withheld at Request of Narcotics Bureau
Robert Anderson, director of the prize-winning Canadian film, "Drug Addict," has arrived in New York, "amazed to learn," he said yesterday, that his film had become a cinema cause celebre.

Lets examine the reasons why Drug Addict has been banned from the USA for almost 60 years. This educational documentary won the Canadian Film Award for it's candid portrayal of drug addiction. As in most stories whether it be fiction or non-fiction there is always a Hero and a Villain. In this real life David v. Goliath we have Lindesmith (HERO) v. Anslinger (VILLAIN): An early government victory in the failed war on drugs.
Dr. Alfred R Lindesmith
A real life hero Dr. Alfred R Lindesmith who was Sociology Professor at Indiana University from 1937 until his death in 1991 often stood alone due to his opposition to the failed War on Drugs in particular it's evil policy of creating criminals out of drug addicted sick people. Hopefully sometime very soon Dr. Alfred R Lindesmith will have at least one entire diary concerning his pioneering work on Drug addiction and Drug Policy. Lindesmith endured 30+ years of Narcotics Bureau harassment and character assassination. The Federal Bureau of Narcotics had plans to set him up by planting Narcotics on him yet far worse than that they falsely labelled him a Communist during the height of the Red Scare also known as McCarthyism.
It was also believed by Lindesmith and others that the FBN intended to plant narcotics in Lindesmith's house or automobile to set him up for arrest.
Marijuana Documentary Film Grass (1999)
According to the documentary Grass (1999), this Canadian movie was banned by the US government for portraying addicts as people in need of medical treatment, and not criminals.
HARRY J ANSLINGER
The man who is considered the first Drug Czar HARRY J ANSLINGER was Commissioner of the (FBN) US Bureau of Narcotics from 1930-1962 it should be noted that 11 years later in 1973 it became the DEA. If your not familiar with Narcotics Commissioner HARRY J ANSLINGER who has also been nicknamed the Father of the Drug War he could in my personal opinion be described as kind of a combination of both Dick Cheney and the notorious FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. That's pretty damn evil but it's also quite accurate. In the future I will have more on the infamous Mr. Anslinger and how his tainted legacy still inflicts misery to this very day.
Believe me I'm not exaggerating when I say the failed War on Drugs original agenda was clearly as racist as a Ku Klux Klan Rally. The problem is that it's still being used as a tool of racism.
Racial hatred fueled Anslinger's obsessive moral crusade against "Marihuana". In 1937 Anslinger testified before Congress. During his address he stated that 50% of all violent crimes committed in the U.S. Were, in fact, committed by Spaniards, Mexican or Latin-Americans, Negroes, Filipinos, & Greeks, and that, further, these crimes could be traced directly to the use by these racial groups of the evil weed, Marijuana.
Colored students at the Univ. of Minn. partying with female students (white), smoking [marijuana] and getting their sympathy with stories of racial persecution. Result pregnancy"
"Two Negros took a girl fourteen years old and kept her for two days under the influence of marijuana. Upon recovery she was found to be suffering from syphilis."
Harry J. Anslinger, testimony to Congress, 1937
Anslinger looks like Mussolini
"There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing, result from marijuana usage. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others."
Harry J. Anslinger, testimony to Congress, 1937
Marijuana is taken by ".....musicians. And I'm not speaking about good musicians, but the jazz type..."

ANSLINGER DOORKNOB
More excerpts of Mr. Anslinger's testimony before a Senate hearing on marijuana in 1937:
...the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the" degenerate races."
"Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death."
"Marihuana was the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind."
"You smoke a joint and you're likely to kill your brother."
On June 22, 1958, at 2:30 A.M., 2 San Francisco Policemen noticed Joe Callegos, a Mexican, constantly blowing the horn of the automobile he was operating in downtown San Francisco. When they told Callegos that horn blowing at that hour was very annoying, Callegos sped away from them, on the wrong side of the street, completely disregarding traffic lights at two intersections. The officers pursued and finally overtook Callegos, who tried to throw away a marijuana cigarette. During questioning Callegos appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic drug. Two marijuana seeds were found in one of his pockets.
How surprised and proud this Mexican Joe must have been if he ever learned that his horn-blowing and seed-carrying had been thus officially reported in such vivid detail by the U.S. Treasury department to Congress and by the U.S. Government to the United Nations.
The first anti-marihuana legislation was sought in the Southwest. Local law enforcement officials spread rumors claiming that the use of marihuana among the Mexican population caused crime and induced violent behavior. Laws were easily passed on the basis of these rumors on the state and local level. The true motivation for such legislation was the oppression of the Mexican immigrants, who used marihuana. Later, during the 1920s, the use of marihuana became established in many cities as part of the African-American inspired jazz scene.
Marihuana Tax Stamp
Anslinger was worried that the film DRUG ADDICT would change the publics view on drug users. Keep in mind that this was an official Canadian government production that was co-produced by narcotics experts from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police if a respected organization such as the Mounties viewed Drug Addicts as sick people instead of criminals then Anslinger and his Narcotics Bureau would become obsolete. The film DRUG ADDICT also realistically portrayed upper middle class Whites as the drug addicts which was the polar opposite of how Anslinger had always scapegoated minorities to enhance his War on Drugs. This evil bastard fostered for 32 years a War on Drugs that was built entirely on a racist foundation that could have collapsed had this film been allowed in the USA.
This son of a bitch is the actual narrator of Reefer Madness a movie that he co-wrote furthermore he also produced numerous other Hollywood propaganda films such as Cocaine Fiends , Marihuana (film) , and Assassin of Youth all of which had violent scenes as well as some Nudity so it was hypocritical for him to ban a documentary that contained no violence especially one co-produced by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The negative and racial stereotypes falsely portrayed in these ridiculous films that were created by drug warrior scum such as Anslinger still survives up to the present day. In fact Anslinger although obviously a charlatan and a racist one at that hasn't yet been discredited by the US Government but more amazingly the United Nations still publishes on it's website Anslinger's so-called expert opinions on drug related issues.

Drug Addict depicts all the addicts as white, well-dressed urbanites. The addicts commit no violent crimes or otherwise behave viciously. Instead, the addicts are portrayed as desperate, pathetic, and sick individuals, suffering from guilt and withdrawal distress. Furthermore, the film questions enforcement of tough drug laws. The 1948 Drug Addict Documentary jeopardized the very existence of the (FBN) Federal Bureau of Narcotics which today is known as the (DEA) Drug Enforcement Agency , the control of the public discourse, and the flow of ideas that were essential to government victories in the failed war on drugs.
Canada treats Drug Addiction as a disease.
Fact Film on Narcotics
November 28, 1948
"THE Drug Addict," a film subject on a theme gingerly avoided by Hollywood for Production Code reasons, has been completed by the National Film Board of Canada only to run into a hurdle. According to one recent trade paper report from Toronto, the United States Treasury Department requested, through the Canadian Ambassador in Washington that the picture not be distributed in the United States.
MAJOR THEMES OF THE FILM Drug Addict:
- that addicts and traffickers are recruited from all races and classes
- that high-level drug traffickers are white
- that law enforcement only targets low-level dealers
- that addiction is a sickness
- that addiction to legal and illegal drugs are essentially the same
- that cocaine is not necessarily addictive
- that law enforcement control of drugs is in the final analysis impossible.
So frightened was Anslinger of the potential damage the documentary would inflict on his drug war that getting the film successfully banned from the USA wasn't good enough for him in fact reminiscent of our current Drug Czar John P. Walters who often tries to dictate Drug Policy to our northern neighbors HARRY J ANSLINGER also tried to intimidate the Canadians on the film DRUG ADDICT.
GREEN FACED ANSLINGER
In February of 1949, a Canadian government representative indicated to Lindesmith that Harry Anslinger had requested that the Canadian government not distribute Drug Addict in the United States. Furthermore, Anslinger had the nerve to actually request that the Canadian government censor its film even within its own borders. The Canadian government rejected his request. Short of a total ban, Anslinger demanded that Lindesmith be prohibited from viewing the film in Canada. The Canadian government rejected this request as well, noting that: "we [can]not bind ourselves to any agreement that no United States citizen should ever see the film in Canada.""
Letter from Dr. Lindesmith published in the Sunday Edition of the NEW YORK TIMES January 22 , 1950
After I stumbled onto this clearly outrageous story of USA Government Censorship I actually ordered a copy of the 1999 documentary Grass yesterday from Amazon to hear for myself why these bastards banned the Canadian Documentary. (It also looks like it's going to be a fantastic film) The more I read about the NAZI like tactics of our government the angrier I got in fact I was so pissed off over the censorship that I decided that I was going to obtain a copy of DRUG ADDICT for myself.
Since it was Sunday and I couldn't call them I sent an e-mail to the National Film Board of Canada inquiring about how to purchase a copy of DRUG ADDICT but so far have I not heard back from them. At approximately 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time today I called their Toll Free Number for the US which is (800)542-2164. I asked about the film but was informed that DRUG ADDICT was no longer available. Since I knew the film was not allowed entry into the so-called Land of the Free I assumed that she only meant it couldn't be shipped to the USA. So I asked if I could buy the documentary in Canada but sadly it's no longer available anywhere or at least that's what I was told.
