David Shuster hosted one hour of today's MSNBC "Super Tuesday" special. I caught the last part of it where Shuster had a staff writer from "The Weekly Standard" on for something. I am pretty sure his name is Matthew Continetti ... I came at the last of it, as Shuster was chewing on his backside.
I searched MSNBC, YouTube, and iTunes for a transcript or a podcast, to no avail. What I saw was just too good to keep to myself.
Shuster called Continetti point-by-point on the Repug talking points. I have never seen anything like it. If you thought Shuster's takedown of Fouad Ajami and Dan Burton was good, you should have seen this.
Lacking a transcript, all I can say is that Continetti was in a battle of wits as an unarmed participant. I was so taken by the exchanges that I can't recall many specifics, but I have never seen anyone so thoroughly refute a Republican talking head. I wish I had a better account of the interview ... if anyone can point to a transcript or podcast I will add updates.
I commented in the recent "Hardball: Shuster on FIRE!" diary that:
... Shuster was not on fire - he was doing what a political talk show host is supposed to do - referee guests and call them on bullshit.
It just looked like Shuster was on fire because we haven't seen a political talk show host doing their job for so long...
I have to say that today, Shuster was smokin' ... Did anyone else see this?
