Man, oh, man am I going to get lambasted for this one.
Please be rest-assured, I have been tireless in my efforts to slam Fox News over their climate change misinformation-aganza.
That being said, after the recent announcement by Rupert Murdoch that NewsCorp. has joined the fight against global warming, I remain naively optimistic.
And a climate change story that popped up on their website today definitely appeals to my optimism.
Fox News has always been the sweetheart media source for the global warming denial industry, but this web-article published today on the Fox News site might just be a first step towards pulling their collective head out of the sand.
To quote:
"One argument commonly used to cast doubt on the idea of global warming is the supposed predictions of an impending ice age by scientists in the 1970s. One might say: First the Earth was supposed to be getting colder; now scientists say it's getting hotter — how can we trust scientists if they're predictions are so wishy-washy?
Because the first prediction was never actually made. Rather, it's something of an urban climate myth."
Yes, the story does quote the typical global warming skeptics like William Gray and Richard Lindzen, but the overall tone of the article is atypical for Fox.
Check it out. What do you think? Keeping in mind where they started, is Fox News slowly meandering down the right path?
Maybe it was this hugely popular video that finally shook their heads a bit. Probably not, to be honest I just wanted to promote this video (I had nothing to do with), because it's so well done.
Please be gentle.
