I was just browsing Raw Story and found this article. I don't see a diary about it and I can't really do it justice right now, but this cannot pass unnoticed!
Former Republican Majority Leader Tom DeLay told a gathering of College Republicans that a link exists between legal abortion and illegal immigration in America. The remarks were included in a video produced by writer Max Blumenthal and posted at The Huffington Post.
"I contend [abortion] affects you in immigration," DeLay told the Washington-area gathering. "If we had those 40 million children that were killed over the last 30 years, we wouldn't need the illegal immigrants to fill the jobs that they are doing today. Think about it."
I am thinking about it Tom and I have to say this is the most sick and twisted argument against abortion that I've ever heard, and I've heard some sick and twisted arguments in my day, believe me.
Still, I have to admire this desperate attempt to kill two birds with one arcane and twisted brainwashing technique that panders to the Christian Right Wing Extremists. Wow.
I'm not sure I quite get the logic though. Someone please help me out here!
Abortion should be illegal because....
...corporate America needs cheap labor and women are morally obliged to carry unwanted pregnancies to full term in order to supply that need.
Did I get this right?
