Finally to be debated in the House tomorrow
Hi. I'm not really a political blogger (even though I'm politically active), but I just haven't seen much news about this bill. I couldn't see it on here, on the NYT, Post, anywhere. I heard a short story on NPR this afternoon and that was it.
Anyway, as the title suggests, it's a bill that would mandate insurance plans to cover mental health and addiction in the same way they do physical claims (no per year limits, same co-pays, etc).
This, of course, would be ground breaking legislation. With the Democratic majority (and it has some bipartisan support) it should fly through both houses and Bush has even said he'll sign it. However, you know how it goes...it has to go through a few committees before it comes to a vote. What we need to do is write our Congressmen and Senators to let them know we don't want the bill watered down, and we want it fast-tracked.
Thanks.
