A Call to Service
Hearing a Call to Service is not just a religious thing. I believe all True Leaders have been called to service. JFK, Martin Luther King, Ann Richards, Molly Ivins and many more were called to service in many different ways. The podcast is a farewell to Lady Bird Johnson and an introduction to some of the great Texans who have answered the call to service by running for office in 2008.
Enjoy the politics and the music.
Farewell to Lady Bird
Former first lady Lady Bird Johnson dies at 94
Lady Bird Johnson, a former first lady, a Texas legend, a woman who used the humble wildflower to teach an entire nation to treasure and preserve the environment, died Wednesday. She was 94.
In recent years, the widow of Lyndon Baines Johnson was virtually silenced by a stroke. She was nearly blinded by macular degeneration. Still, she lived her life with enthusiasm, dividing her time between the family ranch in Stonewall and an Austin home near the presidential library dedicated to her late husband. She thrived on visits with friends and family and inhaled mystery books on tape.
Texas and America have lost another Great Lady!!! Enjoy Your Wild Flowers and Your Rest you have earned them and taught us all by your presence and grace. You will be missed but your memory will live on when any of us see a wild flower bloom.

DAN GRANT FOR CONGRESS
A Fresh Start in a New Direction
Our nation is headed in the wrong direction, and the last thing we need is more of the same.
Iraq. Katrina. Walter Reed. Corruption in the Justice Department, cronyism at the World Bank, incompetence across the board. Scandal, no-bid contracts, and special interest pork.
It’s time for a change in Washington — now. It’s time to restore balance, integrity, and mainstream values to the representation you receive in the corridors of Congress.
I’m running to help us make a fresh start. I’m running to improve national security, move toward energy independence, reduce the national debt, and provide a level playing field for middle-class families who work hard and play by the rules.

On Afghanistan and Iraq
In spite of the claims of President Bush, Afghanistan--not Iraq--is the front line in the War on Terror. The Taliban is resurging in Afghanistan while US forces are caught in a civil war in Iraq. Our military has performed above and beyond their call of duty, but we need new leadership in Washington to offer a winning policy. We have accomplished our original objectives in Iraq: Saddam is dead; there are no weapons of mass destruction; and we have established a freely elected democratic government. From this point forward, it is up to the Iraqis to determine what their country will become, and it is time for our brave troops to come home to their families.
