I am furious. I am dismayed. I am irate.
On the NewsHour (PBS) just now, David Brooks has made the point that many Republican Senators want to vote for withdrawal from Iraq, but could not and cannot because of the way Harry Reid is managing the Senate schedule.
WTF????
I have listened to this crap all week, but this one jumps the shark, to my mind. According to Brooks, Republican Senators cannot vote their consciences and cannot vote for what they believe to be the best interests of the nation (the 'homeland', if any Fox viewers are visiting), because that would reward ... Harry Reid. Mark Shields gently - way too gently - points out that troops will die because of this.
Brooks also argues that we must consider if sacrificing '25' soldiers a month (when was the last month the death toll was as low as 25? one must ask) to prevent a bloodbath among the Iraqis. Again, WTF? David Brooks feels qualified to make that judgment? How about one of his children or grandchildren arbitrarily chosen to join those 25 until the occupation ends? I wonder if that would tend to focus his mind ...
Am I nuts to let these buffoons get to me? Should I have watched Seinfeld on the other channel instead?
Am I ranting?
