We're in familiar territory that we've seen before. The Bush administration being deceptive and stonewalling while new unflattering information rises to the surface.
We've also been conditioned to expect the most unpleasant unexpected. I remember dismissing reports of torture of US detainees immediately after September 11th as at best fantasy and at worst conspiracies spun by those who just have an axe to grind against the United States. It seems almost as if there is nothing you can't put past the Bush administration.
We must resist that temptation.
Friedrich Nietzsche wrote "Battle not with monsters lest ye become a monster" which is more clearly but more prosaically translated as "He who fights against monsters should see to it that he does not become a monster in the process." In battling the right-wing let's be careful not to repeat their mistakes and emulate their excesses.
The cause célèbre of the right-wingers most opposed to Bill and Hillary Clinton in the 1990s was Vince Foster whom many on the far right think was murdered by the Clintons. Followed closely by the "murder" of Ron Brown. Since Dailykos is currently the top story on Worldnetdaily I'll use two of their articles as examples.

Interestingly the latter author in another column cites Ron Brown's knowledge of a potentially illegal domestic spying program under Clinton as something that put him in "jeopardy." (On a side note it would be an interesting project to see which conservative columnists who opposed Echelon under Clinton also oppose Bush's far more comprehensive program now).

Like Tillman's death there were certain discrepancies that were worth taking a look at. Of course Vince Foster had more than one special prosecutor look at his death. And Ron Brown's death has been pretty well looked at as well. In the case of Tillman we're just starting the process of having a serious investigation.
The above authors commenting on the death of Clinton officials are presenting the most extreme theories possible as valid primarily due to their hatred of one politician they detest and feel is capable of "anything." This makes their points difficult to accept to people who don't share their animosity. It also undermines their credibility when they present arguments on other matters.
Is it POSSIBLE that Tillman was somehow murdered for his political views? In these dark times anything is possible. It just isn't likely and there is nothing remotely firm enough to even make the conjecture. Especially when more likely and plausible scenarios are out there. Accidental deaths can happen within close range. Even a scenario involving homicide is far more likely to involve a grudge than a conspiracy.
Also this is an administration with no shame and possessing an unparallel degree of arrogance. They didn't care about the opinions of their own intelligence officers. They didn't care about the opinion of their own Secretary of State. Pat Tillman's opposition to the war is meaningless to them. Whether or not he likes or even meets with Noam Chomsky is meaningless. He'd be just another critic to tar and feather. If the Bush administration were to ever make some sort of "death list" Pat Tillman's name would be FAR from the top of that list.
There is also no need to even go there. The Bush administration has been caught red handed lying and covering up the death of a hero who did nothing but selflessly agree to put aside millions to serve his country. It is already a really big deal without trying to embelish it before all the facts are in.
