Robert Abboud, the village president of Barrington Hills, threw his hat into the ring Monday against 8 term incumbent Republican Don Manzullo, from Egan, instead of throwing things at the tv set anymore.
Abboud is a 50 year old nuclear engineer, Purdue graduate, grandfather and business owner who has been testing the waters for months.
He said "My current congressman is not a leader, if he wanted to lead, he wouldn't be such a consistent follower of failed policy."
"A follower of big business, big money and big shots who think they can decide the direction of the country without listening to us."
Abboud has the support of the McHenry County Democratic Party organization, whose chair, Tom Cynor, thinks that Abboud's business acumen will help him in fundraising.
Cynor says "I think the biggest problem for the Republicans is that this person is not an insider."
