Perhaps in Alaska, the Internet really is a series of tubes, with backed-up trucks spilling their loads of Internets onto the ground so nothing gets through for four days. Because something has to be responsible for there being no progressive blogs in Alaska.
LeftyBlogs is a fantastic site. If ever there's some event happening around the country -- say, a Fox News Democratic debate in Nevada or a Senate race featuring Al Franken in Minnesota -- you can go there and find out what the progressive blogs in that state are saying. But when I wanted to find out the inside happenings in Alaskan Democratic politics with all these Republicans in crisis, there's nothing. The only blog covering progressive Alaskan politics is Daily Kos. There's some other national blog with a state-by-state RSS feed, but its only story about Alaska last week was regarding fire-safe cigarettes. The only other blog with any posts is something covering things like Nicole Richie and what color your soul is.
BlogPAC's blogroll has nothing. Alaska's not even a state over there. DFA has one group in Alaska, whose last blog post was to inform everyone that a meeting in 2006 is canceled.
Surely, there is at least one person in Alaska who has an opinion about progressive politics. If that is you, could you please get out of your backed-up Internet truck, walk around all the spilled Internets, and insert a mimeograph of your thoughts about the situation into my computerized monitor please?
For the rest of you in locations with working Internets, do you have any ideas on how to find or develop Alaskan progressive bloggers? Or any insights into the state of Democratic or progressive politics in Alaska?
