Sorry to anyone here who was hoping for a fully fleshed out diary. The hectic schedule of the working poor precludes me from stringing together too many worthy and apropos thoughts into what anyone might consider a worthwhile diary. My hats off to those of you who can really kick ass at this type of thing. That being said . . .
As I just drove home from working a little unpaid white-collar OT, I flipped on NPR just past 4:30 p.m. here on the east coast and I heard the female host begin to talk about the turmoil in the House as of lastnight and again today.
Frankly it didn't sound like much more that the Republicans being obstructionist and complaining loudly as they lost out on some parlimentart ruling of cloture or some such thing. But as the host was beginning to explain it she uttered the words:
Democrat party
She did this in mid-sentence. OK, granted it is 95 degrees here in the Philadelphia area, and I will admit that I had just gotten in my old Subaru wagon with an internal temperature of 170 degrees, but I swear she said "Democrat party."
I don't think that NPR posts transcriptions of every passing remark but maybe they do. I would appreciate it if someone more savvy than me could comment with a link to verify what I believe I heard. Not that it will mean anything when I cite it and wave it in the face of my local NPR fundraisers as the reason I no longer contribute to a once decent media outlet, but I would like to be able to wave it in someone's face at some point. Maybe just as another illustration of the decline of Western civilization.
Again I apologize for clogging "recent diary" space with a quick and dirty diary featuring little in the way of insight. But, sometimes circumstance dictates such efforts (or lack thereof).
