Okay all you lucky suckers who got to attend the Yearly KOS convention and left the rest of us here to fend for ourselves. Here are a few things you might have missed this week while you were away. This first one is what happens to your brain when you watch too much Fox News. It's a portion of Washington Journal from Aug. 1st and the question is whether Alberto Gonzales should be impeached or not.
More below from Countdown, Hardball, the hearings held this week and Bush giving his warm and fuzzy press briefing after the bridge collapse and a little Cafferty.
Next is Jon Soltz from Vote Vets going up against Vets for Freedom's Eric Egland who is associated with Melanie Morgan's group Move America forward debating the Rumsfeld testimony during the hearing on Pat Tillman's death. I'm sure everyone will be shocked that Egland carries water for Rummy.
Here we have Dennis Kucinich hammering Donald Rumsfeld during the Tillman hearing. Whatever anyone thinks of Kucinich as a Presidential candidate, you've got to respect him for the grilling he gave here.
Here are Henry Waxman's opening statements during the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's hearing on the death of Pat Tillman.
Here's Chris Shays' idea of oversight. Thank Rumsfeld for "calling the bluff" of the critics by showing up at the hearing and decide that you don't need to ask him anything and hand him the mike.
Here President Bush talks about the bridge collapse in Minneapolis. I'm sure the good citizens of Minneapolis should be resting much better now knowing Bush will show as much care for them as he did the citizens of New Orleans and the Gulf coast. He then goes on to slam the Democrats for not passing his spending bill yet. The irony of slamming government spending just after a bridge collapsed seems to be lost on George.
This is Orrin Hatch's idea of Congressional oversight. At the hearing where Karl Rove refused to show up and Scott Jennings decided to invoke Executive privlege rather than testifying openly, Hatch thinks that all of this is just fine and that the Congress should just shut up and sit down and forget about the administration destroying the DOJ.
Mike Stark makes Keith Olbermann's Worst Person list, but thankfully not ahead of Bill O'Reilly!! Personally I've got mixed feelings on what Mike did and feel that what's good for the goose is good for the gander and that it couldn't have happened to a "nicer" guy, but I tend to agree with Keith on this one and I don't like seeing anyone stalked at their home. Out in public, have at him and stick that camera in his face any time you like.
Here Chuck Shumer questions Rove aide Scott Jennings on the US Attorney firings during the hearing that the Judiciary Committee held on the matter and asks why he is claiming Executive privlege on matters where they have emails and other items which are already on the record, and also on matters which Jennings was already willing to comment about. This is Part 1.
Here's Part 2 of Shumer's questioning.
Here's Johnathon Turley on Countdown talking about the FISA law that Bush is bullying down the Democrats' throats.
Here Keith speaks to Rachel Maddow about whether our misplaced spending priorities are to blame for the bridge collapse in Minneapolis.
Worst Person for Aug. 3 is conservative talker "Gunny" Bob Newman with runners up Bill O'Reilly and George Bush.
And from the other day Jack Cafferty ask viewers what they think of Tom Tancredo's remarks that the US should bomb holy sites in Mecca to reduce the chance of a terrorist attack in the US.
Enjoy!! Wish I could have joined all of you but I was locked out of a vacation day to be able to take off my last third shift of the week, and we've got too much stuff to take care of here at home even if I could have taken off. Up late since my sleep isn't back to normal yet so I thought I'd share my video finds with everyone who is up in Chicago instead of home watching the tube, or with any other late nighter on here who might appreciate them.
